Awana

Awana is an acronym for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed,” taken from 2 Timothy 2:15,  “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”

Awana is a club for kids that meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00pm during the months of September through April. Awana is all about building friendships, learning the Bible, and getting to know God better. Each week, kids memorize Scripture, play games, open their Bibles, and learn how to follow Jesus. Awana Club leaders are a multi-generational gang of some of the best folks you'll ever want your child to hang out with.

Puggles (2 years old by August 1st)

Puggles provides the first steps your child will make on the path to loving and following God for life. Children are welcomed each week by a team of caring leaders. Puggles play, sing, do crafts, and learn God’s Word in ways they remember all week. Crafts, activities and lessons teach and reinforce four basic Biblical precepts:

God made everything.  God saw that it was good.  God is love.  Give thanks.

Cubbies (ages 3-5)

Cubbies celebrates the spiritual potential inside every energetic preschooler. Wiggles, giggles, and wonder mark the beginnings of a passionate follower of Christ. Cubbie leaders speak truth into the lives of preschoolers and help them develop respect for God, His Son and His Word. Each week, they learn about the greatness of our God and His Word – and about His Son, Jesus Christ, the promised Savior. Cubbies memorize the Bible together, play games, make friends, hear Bible stories, and are led to know and trust God.

Sparks (Kindergarten-2nd grade)

Sparks ignites the curiosity of early elementary-age kids by building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ.  Clubbers explore God’s Word in Large Group teaching time then break out into Small Groups to recite the verses they have memorized. Children grow in their knowledge of the Bible as they complete handbook activities. Friendships and a love for being in God’s house develop as they enjoy activities, games, service and missionary projects, praise and worship, and the joyful interaction with caring leaders.

Sparks is divided into three years, each with a unique rank:

HangGlider     WingRunner     SkyStormer

Truth & Training (T&T) (3rd-6th grade)

T&T is designed to help kids stay plugged into God’s Word as they move into the preteen years and continue growing in their relationship with Christ. Our program is designed to deepen a child's knowledge about God and His Word and teach kids how to put that knowledge into action in everyday life.

Engaging third through sixth graders means developing healthy relationships with leaders and peers, answering their questions about God and the Bible, and guiding them through this pivotal life stage to grow in Christ's grace. It also means engaging them in fun activities, projects, and events that make Wednesday night the best night of their week.

Awana T&T Handbooks are a kid-friendly tool designed to take 3rd- 6th grade kids though a wide range of Scriptures.

•T&T Ultimate Adventure for third and fourth grades

•T&T Ultimate Challenge for fifth and sixth grades

Kids who complete all four books will earn the prestigious Timothy Award. The Awana Handbook would be the program of choice for all kids who can memorize several verses each week. They will end each year with a well-rounded understanding of key Bible passages that God will use for the rest of their lives.

Key Verse Program (KVP)

For grades 3-6, New Castle also offers an optional memorization program called the Key Verse Program (KVP). Kids in this program work on a weekly verse that directly correlates with our Sunday School and Awana lessons. Instead of the Awana Handbooks, kids in KVP focus on one or two verses per week plus application activities that challenge them to …

Learn It  (memorization)

Know It  (comprehension)

Live It  (application)

Share It  (action)

The Awana Handbook and our own Key Verse Program are proven tools to help kids learn a wide range of scripture during their school-age years.
